What to do

In Satyam:

Enjoy nature

Do you enjoy sitting under a tree with family and friends, listening to the birdsong and sipping Mate or having a picnic? Or being far enough out of the city to see lots of stars in the night sky? Have you ever watched an iridescent green humming bird hover and sip nectar from a flower just a couple of metres away? Or seen a startled hare leap over a stream? Or wandered through a sparkling light display on a summer’s evening made by hundreds of fireflies twinkling among the trees at dusk? And after a long day of sightseeing and winter sunshine, is there anything more relaxing and snug than underfloor heating and curling up with a cup of tea in front of the dancing flames of a log fire? Whatever the season, you are sure to have many magical natural moments during your stay in Satyam.

Play sports

Here you can play tennis, badminton, cricket, table-tennis and football, jump on the trampoline to your heart’s content, do laps in the pool... or just enjoy floating on your back and looking up at the blue sky surrounded by palm trees.

Gardening

Being in touch with the earth and caring for other living beings is good for everyone! You are welcome to join in with our varied gardening activities as we look after the plants and trees in Satyam. Depending on the time of year we could be sowing seeds, weeding the flowerbeds, pruning fruit trees, planting or transplanting bulbs or bushes, taking organic refuse to the composter or dragging branches to the fire pit.

Workshops and guided tours (when there is a group interested):

Conscious Cooking

Nos encanta comer platos deliciosos, caseros y sanos. Ven a aprender simples principios y recetas variadas para elaborar platos creativos, vegetarianos, nutritivos y exquisitos

Native Plants and Trees

Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why is it that certain plant species grow in certain environments, whilst very different species grow in others? As we walk around the gardens together we can introduce you to some of the native flora of Buenos Aires and explore their adaptations to the local environment, the special relationships that they have evolved with certain native insects and animals and their medicinal/nutritional uses for us human beings. And also discuss the ecological impact of planting native species in your garden, in terms of biodiversity, preservation, pollination etc.

Birdwatching

Birdwatching: For budding naturalists of all ages we offer an introduction to the 30+ species of birds that frequent Satyam followed by a guided walk around the gardens with binoculars to spot and observe some of them in their natural habitat.

Geometry

A compass, a ruler and a pencil on paper are the simple tools which, combined with your full attention, can offer you a delightful and satisfying experience of focussing and ordering your mind, calming your emotions, forgetting about everything else in life and entering into a timeless zone where creativity flows through you to produce something beautiful. It can be as simple and profound as you allow it to be. No previous experience is necessary.

Places to visit:

Buenos Aires and La Plata

For sightseeing and many cultural and gastronomical attractions these cities are a short car or bus ride away. Both have a huge variety of museums, theatres, bars, restaurants, craft markets and historical sights to visit.

Eco-tourism

There are many parks nature reserves and ranches (estancias) to visit nearby, as well as a safari with native species, some organic farms and markets, and a Japanese garden centre. We are en route to the Atlantic beach resorts which begin 300 km away.

Adventure tourism

You can do horse riding, hang-gliding, fishing, kite-surfing, canoeing and other water sports nearby.

Getting around:

We are just over half an hour away from downtown Buenos Aires by car, so if you are brave enough to drive in crazy Argentine traffic, renting a car is a good option for doing several excursions in the neighbourhood. However if you want to relax in nature and just venture into town a couple of times, for about U$40 you can get a local cab to take you to the city. If you are feeling more adventurous, or prefer to spend time rather than money, you can take public transport, getting a coach into Buenos Aires or La Plata for about U$1.50 plus U$3 for the 10 minute cab ride to where the buses leave from.
